USPA NEWS - The Paris Peace Forum will hold its spring meeting on May May 17th, at 5.p.m Paris Time. It is Taking place on the eve of the Summit on Financing African Economies hosted by President Macron, our Spring Meeting will highlight North-South relations in these times of pandemic, with a special emphasis on Africa. Vaccine nationalism endangers global immunity and economic recovery and threatens to poison North-South relations on other issues, including climate negotiations. The Spring meeting sessions will gather key global actors such as WHO, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the IMF, the WTO, and public development banks. Together, they will explore how advanced economies and developing nations can cooperate on short-term vaccine procurement and long-term recovery ““ covering vaccine production, debt relief, and sustainable development ““ and how these mechanisms could be best financed. A discussion between Pascal Lamy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Trade Organization. HELPING BRIDGE THE ONORTH-SOUTH DIVIDE ON CRITICAL CHALLENGES OVER VACCINES DEBT & CLIMATE------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ After three successful editions gathering 25 000 participants, 125 heads of state and government, and 333 projects, the Paris Peace Forum is entering a new phase. In addition to being an annual event, it is strengthening its year-round activities to become an actor of global governance.
